November Ducks

November trout fishing has been wide open Trout being caught all over the marsh with live shrimp and plastics under corks. Redfish biting good but scattered. The first split of the LA duck season was not as good as usual and warmer then past seseaons. The duck numbers in our area are down from previous years but I had some really good hunts and happy hunters. The second split which starts on December 15 should be a lot better. Hopefully colder weather here and up north will brings more ducks to the marshes. All and all still a sucessful first split with an average of 8 to 10 ducks per hunt. I still have openings for the rest of the sesaon so call soon and get on the books we only hav
e 40 days left till the season closes. CALL NOW AND GET IN ON THE FISHING AND HUNTING ACTION! CAPTAIN GENE DUGAS 985-640-0569 www.ratherbe-fishing.com

BLASTING and CASTING!

November is one of my favorite months to be in the Louisiana Marshes The speckled trout hvae moved in and the weather is cool and it is DUCK SEASON.I have been busy fishing and hunting all month here it is Thanksgiving Day I have lot to be thankful for too. The fishing is in full swing speckled trout catches are sloid and steady the redfish are plentiful but on the small side that should change as it gets colder. Now for the ducks! The sesaon openeed on the 3rd for the youth hunt and The kids wer out and shot few and misseda few but lots of fun. Regular season opened on the 10th. Warm wether has us off toa slow start not the numbers of birds we normally have but I have been hunting and having good success not limits but good hunts and always a good time. The second split of the season should be great so if you want to get in on the action catching fish shooting ducks or both give me a call and seta day to enjoy the Sportsman Paradise in Louisiana.

Trout Train Still Rolling!

Trout Train Still Rolling Sunday & Monday I fished with Mike, Al, Ray, Eric and Rico. We fished a mid morning trip on Sunday and did not kill them but had 50 nice trout in the box a little after noon. Monday we were out early and started out where we left them and they were still there. Ounce we got them started I called over some friends in another boat and got them in position just outside of the fish. That worked great we had the school just in front and between the boats keeping the baits in the same area keeping the trout biting. Hit the marsh and did some red fishing catching 7 reds and drums before calling it a day before it got hot. Wednesday Chuck and Jim some regulars brought along their friend Kenny for his first trip with me and what a trip. We started at the rigs in black bay our first stop had trout coming in the boat live shrimp under corks. The trout were mixed in size but a slow steady bite had the box looking good. A couple of rigs later we hit gold big fat trout slamming our baits both under corks and on bottom. We finished our limit right there and headed in to try the reds. We caught plenty of reds but all too small to keep and one nice flounder. CAPT GENE DUGAS RATHERBE FISHING-HUNTING ADVENTURES www.ratherbe-fishing.com 985-640-0569

Bad Weather Great Trip!

Windy Rainey Day Yesterday. Larry, Robbie,Josh, and Blaine and I left the dock at first light and was met with a huge storm . It blew 20to30 for awhile no getting outside after the trout. Plan B,so we worked around some ponds in the rain close to Black bay for redfish hoping the weather would break and we could get out. We put a few reds in the boat broke off a few and landed and released a huge bull drum. Then it happened the rain stopped wind calmed so we took our shot and ran out. First stop a couple dirty water second and third catfish number four it happened picked few trout so we anchored down and they slowly started coming in the boat then they turned on trout coming in steady. The weather was making another run on us so we headed in and just made it in time. Cold and wet but smiling with box full of trout on bad weather day. We fished hard no matter the weather and made the best of it and got lucky. 75 TROUT 6 REDFISH CAPT GENE DUGAS RATHER BE FISHING ADVENTURES 985-640-0569 www.ratherbe-fishing.com

LATE MAY FISHING REPORT

LATE MAY REPORT: Had some really good trips this past week speckled trout ,redfish , and drum. The wind has still been giving us some trouble blowing in the mornings limiting where we can fish but the fish are there and set into summer patterns. June should have some calmer winds and bigger trout too. MONDAY: Dan Hare and Group of 4 on board wind blowing and black Bay rough and dirty things looked bleak for awhile until we found some cleaner water along the shoreline of black bay. The bite was slow but steady we worked the shoreline and filled the box with trout, reds, and drum. THE CATCH: 60 trout,3 reds,10 drum.
TEUSDAY: Paul and Ricky had a great morning they limited out with the trout early. It got real hot quick so we hit a few reds and one big drum on the way in and called it a day. CATCH 50-trout WEDNESDAY: Jodie Mazerat and group on board. Tough day the fish just did not want to bite. The tide barely moved all morning making it a slow day but we hung in there and stayed on the moved and finished with a decent catch. After talking to a few other guides who were out that day we did pretty good. CATCH 38 trout, 3 bull reds,1 drum,1 flounder
FRIDAY: Romero group on board which is always a good time. Started out in Black bay water was dirty and wind blowing again. Went to the east and found cleaner water and speckled trout we hit 3 area’s and had 88 trout but the rod was bent the whole morning about a 3to1 catch keep ratio. Left the trout biting and hit 3 spots and put 7 reds and 6 drum on top to finish out the day.
THE FISHING IS IN FULL SWING AND WILL ONLY GET BETTER IN JUNE, SO CALL ME AND BOOK ATRIP ANF GET IN ON THE CATCHING AND FUN. CAPT. GENE DUGAS 985-640-0569 RATHER BE FISHING ADVENTURES www.ratherbe-fishing.com

MAY FISHING IS HOT!

MAY FISHING REPORT! May has started off with a bang we started getting live shrimp the first week of May and the speckled trout and Red fish have been eating them up. The weather is up and down but the winds have calmed down a good bit allowing us to fish the open bays and lakes where the speckled trout have moved to for the summer. The fishing has been great with full boxes of fish just about every trip. I look for the speckled trout and red fishing to stay strong and only get better as we set into a solid summertime pattern. Now is the time to get in on the summer fishing and fun.

April Fishing Report

We have had some tough weather and lots of wind to deal with this April but the fishing is good and when the the weather coperates the fish do too. On the windy days we have been limited to fishing redfish in the protected area's aand with good success. When the winds have been down the speckled trout fishing has been pretty good in the open lakes and deep passes. No live bait until next month so artificail titelined and under corks have been doing the job. May is just around the corner and taht is when things relly heat up and will just get better as the summer goes on.

SPRING FISHING STARTS UP IN HOPEDALE LA.

Yesterday Gary Stewart and Mike Naylor started off their fishing season off with a bang. The weather was beautiful all ,morning light breeze just enough to keep the bugs off. We started right off with some school trout under some birds to get us going. The bigger trout were on the shorelines and points with moving water. Chartreuse plastic and live minnows did the trick. The bite was not fast and you had to stay on the move but the guy’s had their limit of nice trout and 3 big reds for their first trip this season.
THE TROUT ARE STARTING TO BITE AND SHOULD ONLY GET BETTER!
